THE PHI TANG AWARD (2025-2026)

The Phi Tang Award is an annual scholarship presented to a graduating student-athlete at Academy Park High School who achieves the highest GPA. Created in honor of Phi Tang—an exceptional student-athlete known for his academic excellence, discipline, and character—this award recognizes multidimensional achievement both in and beyond the classroom. The Phi Tang Award celebrates balance, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence as a way of life.

  • The Phi Tang Foundation currently operates as a grassroots, community-based program and has not yet been recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. As a result, contributions made at this time are not tax-deductible for federal income tax purposes. We are actively fundraising to cover the costs associated with filing for 501(c)(3) status, which will allow us to expand our programs and offer tax-exempt giving in the future. All donations are used to support our mission and community initiatives, though tax deductibility cannot be guaranteed until IRS approval is received.

  • Donations to The Phi Tang Foundation are distributed across our programs and community initiatives based on current needs, including Food with Phriends, our food insecurity support program, as well as mental health advocacy, outreach efforts, and other community-based projects. When programs do not have active events or immediate funding needs, contributions are directed by default to support the Phi Tang Award Scholarship, ensuring continued investment in student achievement and Phi’s lasting legacy.

  • Volunteers are at the heart of The Phi Tang Foundation’s work. Whether you’re interested in supporting community outreach, assisting with food distribution through our Food with Phriends program, helping with events, or lending your skills behind the scenes, there are many ways to get involved.
